We are ordinary Roman Catholics, single or married, from every walk of life, who have made a commitment to the Order, and to the spirit and charism of St. Dominic, not in a convent or monastery but in our ordinary lives.
Lay Dominicans in Leicester
Did you know that Lay Dominicans must have existed in Leicester before the Reformation. They have been around since the Middle Ages and the current Holy Cross Lay Dominican Chapter is at least a hundred years old.
But who are Lay Dominicans? They are part of the worldwide Dominican Order and an integral part of the Order’s mission: to preach the Good News of Jesus Christ. We make a profession, follow a rule and live by the four pillars of Dominican Life : prayer, study, preaching and community. However, we live as lay people in the world, married or single, working or not.
